Product Overview
Otoflu Eye/Ear Drops is a sterile antifungal solution containing Fluconazole (0.3% w/v) for topical ocular and otic use. This specialized formulation is clinically proven to treat fungal infections affecting the eyes and ears, delivering targeted therapeutic action to combat pathogenic fungi while relieving associated symptoms. The dropper bottle design ensures precise, contamination-free application.
Uses
Clinically indicated for fungal infections (mycoses) of ocular and aural structures caused by Candida, Aspergillus, and other susceptible fungi. Effective against symptoms including erythema, pruritus, abnormal discharge, edema, and discomfort. The topical formulation ensures direct delivery of antifungal agents to infected tissues while minimizing systemic absorption.
How to Use
1. Perform thorough hand hygiene before administration
2. For ocular use: Tilt head back, gently pull lower eyelid downward to form conjunctival sac
3. For otic use: Position affected ear upward, gently retract auricle
4. Instill prescribed drops without contacting applicator tip to any surface
5. Maintain position for 30 seconds post-application
6. Recap bottle immediately after use
Mechanism of Action
Fluconazole exerts fungistatic and fungicidal effects through selective inhibition of fungal cytochrome P450-dependent 14α-lanosterol demethylase. This disrupts ergosterol biosynthesis, compromising fungal cell membrane integrity and permeability. The resultant depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of toxic sterol intermediates leads to fungal cell lysis.
Dosage and Administration
Standard dosage regimen:
– Ophthalmic: 1 drop in affected eye(s) every 4-6 hours
– Otic: 2-3 drops in affected ear twice daily
Treatment duration typically 7-14 days based on clinical response. Complete full prescribed course even if symptoms resolve earlier. Dosage adjustments may be required for pediatric or immunocompromised patients.
