Uses

This medication is indicated for:

• Relief of allergic rhinitis symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, nasal itching)
• Treatment of allergic conjunctivitis (itchy, watery eyes)
• Management of throat and palate itching
• Symptomatic treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives)

Mechanism of Action

Levocetirizine, the active component of Cetcip L 5 mg, is a selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist. It works by competitively blocking histamine receptors, thereby inhibiting the physiological effects of histamine release during allergic reactions.

Dosage and Administration

Recommended dosage:

• Adults and children ≥12 years: 5 mg once daily
• Children 6-11 years: 2.5 mg once daily (use pediatric formulation)

Administration guidelines:

• Take with or without food
• Preferably administer in the evening
• Swallow tablet whole with water
• Do not exceed recommended dosage
