Headset is a dual-action migraine medication formulated as tablets containing Sumatriptan (85mg) and Naproxen (500mg). This synergistic combination addresses migraine symptoms through complementary mechanisms: sumatriptan (a serotonin receptor agonist) targets vascular components, while naproxen (an NSAID) addresses inflammatory pathways. The medication provides comprehensive migraine relief by simultaneously constricting cerebral blood vessels and reducing inflammation.

Indications

Headset is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adult patients. It effectively manages characteristic migraine symptoms including severe headache, photophobia, phonophobia, nausea, and vomiting. The combination therapy offers superior efficacy compared to monotherapy by addressing multiple migraine pathways.

Administration

Take one Headset tablet orally with water at migraine onset. If symptoms persist or recur after initial relief, a second dose may be taken ≥2 hours after the first, with a maximum of 2 tablets in 24 hours. Swallow tablets whole – do not crush, chew, or divide. Optimal results occur when taken early during migraine attacks.

Mechanism of Action

Sumatriptan selectively activates 5-HT1B/1D receptors, causing cranial vasoconstriction and inhibiting neuropeptide release. Naproxen non-selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1/COX-2), reducing prostaglandin-mediated inflammation and peripheral pain sensitization. This dual mechanism provides comprehensive migraine relief.
