How to Use

To use Yaz effectively, take one tablet daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Start the pack on the first day of your menstrual period to ensure immediate contraceptive protection. Follow the direction of the arrows on the blister pack to take the tablets in the correct order. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember and continue taking the remaining tablets as usual.

How it Works

Yaz works by combining the synthetic hormones Drospirenon and Ethinylestradiol to mimic the natural hormones progesterone and estrogen in the body. These hormones prevent the release of an egg from the ovaries, thicken cervical mucus to impede sperm penetration, and thin the uterine lining to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg, thereby providing highly effective contraception.

Dosage and Administration

Each pack of Yaz contains 28 tablets, with 24 active tablets containing hormones and 4 placebo tablets. Take one active tablet daily for 24 days, followed by one placebo tablet daily for the next 4 days. Begin a new pack on the 29th day, even if your period has not finished. Use additional contraceptive methods, such as condoms, during the first 7 days of starting Yaz.
